Men and women who fight the suppression of the human voice, who fight disease, illiteracy, ignorance, poverty and hunger...Those are the people who have inspired me.
— Nelson Mandela

No matter what our circumstance, many of us are consumed by a personal vision for profound growth and progress, not just for ourselves but for the world in which we live.  The Upwardly is a community that serves visionaries.

Join us as we prepare to explore The Altitude Acclimatization Algorithm.  The Altitude Acclimatization Algorithm is a method we, The Upwardly, can use to overcome adversarial environments --- situations, circumstances where we are not supported by the people, institutions, or culture with which we live.

For The Upwardly who ascribe to the "Altitude Acclimatization Algorithm", we believe we are on a pilgrimage.  A vertical pilgrimage through the present challenges in an environment that is not conducive to growth, to a higher destination that will feel more like home than anywhere we've ever been because to get there we will have had to dismantle the power structure of the status quo.

One of our Upwardly heroes, Nelson Mandela, was equally as inspired by people who had the willingness to fight for the rights of those suppressed by their culture and environment.  As a freedom fighter who sacrificed his own personal freedom in the interest of lasting change, his life remains an example of the life lived in the interest of overcoming the immediate limitations of one’s environment.

We celebrated the 100th anniversary of his birthday, we at the Upwardly continue to reiterate his view that no one is uniquely qualified to overcome adversarial environments, but rather we are all challenged to adapt as we continue on the path to the summit.  As we remember July 18, 2018, the 100th anniversary of Mandela's birth, we will explore the components of the Altitude Acclimatization Algorithm.

We are grateful to have had the opportunity to take The Upwardly and the algorithm to South Africa.
